As I really believed, the Padres are tanking. Bradley comes back and we are winning games as the Padres do what is expected.
Nothing was expected of the Dodgers but nothing was expected of them last year. So getting solid now with hopes of starters returning, Valentin & Drew, we sure can make a push at top spot and we have 9 weeks to do it.
I still maintain Depodesta is not to blame for anything, BUT... if he doesn't do anything before Sunday then we can jump on his case.
I still think a trustworthy closer and starter is in need. Playing time for their AAA players has helped them get on top of the ball and produce runs.
Big series against the Cards this weekend. They need to dig in and show they can play up to par with these guys since they may have to go head to head once again in the playoffs.
One thing this team doesn't lack... HEART! They keep hanging on.

Re: Still in it...
Wed, July 27, 2005 - 8:34 AMWe are a AAA ball club and yeah it is not DEPODESTA's fault completely but, CHOI is, and Drew has a track record for getting hurt, and we have no 3rd baseman. This team does not have it, as long as we can play a team like the REDS then we look good, see what the Cardinals do to us this weekend, I like your spirit though but keep dreaming, I hate to say it but So CAL is the Angels town now, and as long as Mcourt is owning the DODGERS they will suck.

Wed, July 27, 2005 - 1:44 PMWhoever wins the division I say will be a sub-.500 team. I think the Dodgers can do it, but what good is it if we get swept again in the first round? This season is completely laughable in my eyes, but to think we have a chance of winning the division amazes me.

Wed, July 27, 2005 - 2:17 PMfor the first time in my life i cannot stand going to dodger games. ive never been so bored in my life watching these guys play. i dont really care right now if they make the playoffs or not the cards will still annihilate them with ease. about everyone on the team is hitting in the 240 area. its a disgrace to this once proud franchise. going to dodger games and watching these old frisco hippies cheering was the last straw im not going back there until something dramatic happens. people you cant get excited over a team thats 5? games under .500. the division is a joke thats the only reason why theyre in it. theyre pretty much totally out of the wild card , i believe theyre 9 back? stop going to games lets not be like retarded cub fans and keep paying for crap!

Re: Still in it...
Thu, July 28, 2005 - 11:12 AMI still can't stand Brazoban as their closer. I'd rather have Nomo closing out a game. Look at the Yanks - they pick up Nomo to fill in for their troubled rotation. Depodesta needs an arm that can throw for ONE inning to shorten the stupid games. Get Brazoban as a setup role as he is better suited for and get a closer!!! I'm not saying Nomo would have been a good pick up, I'm saying he was out there and he could have filled the role that Brazoban obviously is incapable of filling.
I still believe, a starter and a closer will get them through to the playoffs and in the playoffs. Defense needs help. Offense is scoring enough and will potentially be stronger if Valentin and Drew come back. Of course if they can swing a deal for A Dunn without giving up too much, then it takes a load off of the staff's backs.
